Garth Armstrong

Born in Toronto, Garth Armstrong attended public and secondary school in North York, Ontario. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art in communication and design in 1983, Garth pursued a career in graphic design, and is an experienced art director and marketing executive. Garth began his painting career using watercolour to create rural landscapes in a realistic style. Later, Garth began working in oils on wood panel and canvas, exploring a more impressionistic style and palette in his landscapes and portraits. Inspired by his own children, and rural scenes, Garth captures the essence of his subject through his own style. Working with a soft pallet and in relatively small scale, Garth achieves a scene of tranquility in his work, and sets a mood that would not be attainable in many other ways.
